Ming Dynasty tombs near Beijing. The unmarked tomb was undisturbed for centuries before being discovered in the 1950’s deep below the ruins of the original tombs. The ‘Underground Palace” once included the remains of the emperor and queen but were dragged out and set on fire during the Cultural Revolution in the 1960’s under Mao. Since then, they have been rebuilt for the millions of annual tourists.
