Although I have taken plenty of photos of and around the now unbiquitious Mother Emmanuel AME Church on Calhoun Street these past two weeks, I thought it better to share a few of the cities other architectural and historic sites. Charleston has been changed forever by the both a single act of hatred and by the millions of acts of love and forgiveness that followed. The historic relic of a flag that has freely held reign and submission over the statehouse grounds a hundred miles north in Columbia may finally be heading to the nearby State Museum for good. Perhaps with it, will go some of the divisiveness and suffering so long afflicting this part of the world.
Ironically the art deco Wentworth Building shown in the photo was the site of numerous peaceful sit-ins and protests by African Americans in the early 1960’s, unable at that point in Charleston…
