Want a fruit cake in September? In China they are called Moon Cakes and the are supposed to be a treat. Generally speaking the Chinese do not like sweets like most of those in the Western parts of the world. This was similar to a giant, thick, non-sweet fig newton. It felt more of a punishment that a dessert, but the gesture was well intentioned non the less.
